The editorial design for Voltaire Magazin was created during my studies at FH Dortmund. Voltaire Magazin is a university magazine from the design department at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts FH Dortmund. I was tasked with developing the concept and creating the editorial design for Voltaire Magazin, focusing on a layout that conveys the theme of identity verification and human rights.
Throughout the process, I collaborated with fellow students specializing in graphic design and photography. Together, we aimed to craft a magazine that would not only be visually engaging but also thought-provoking. The design includes elements like highlighter marks, grid-based layouts, copier-style effects, and stamp-like text placement. These design choices were made to give the magazine a document-like feel, reinforcing the serious themes of human rights and identity.
In addition to stunning photography, the magazine’s content delves into the multifaceted aspects of human rights. It covers a range of topics with critical insights and thought-provoking articles. We used bold typography and a clear grid structure to guide the reader’s attention to key sections. The clean layout and minimalistic approach let the content shine without distraction.
The final artwork was created in close collaboration with Kristina Nagel and Sophie Feige. Together, we ensured that the visual identity of the magazine aligned perfectly with its intellectual themes.
