In this project, I created bubbly 3D typography in augmented reality that interacts directly with real world objects. First, I designed an analog poster that works as the visual trigger for the AR experience. This poster activates the effect and connects the physical and digital layers.
Next, I designed a set of inflated 3D letters with a soft, floating look. The shapes take inspiration from the word “Air” and add a playful tone to the experience. To support this feeling, I chose a holographic material that reacts to light and movement.
After that, I brought the animated 3D typography into an augmented reality environment. This step allowed the letters to exist in real space and respond naturally to the surroundings. At the same time, I transferred the holographic texture into the AR setup so the look stays consistent. As a result, the transition from 3D rendering to augmented reality feels smooth and intuitive.
Finally, I connected the AR application to the analog poster. As soon as a compatible device recognises the poster through the camera, the effect starts. The bubbly typography appears, begins to move, and adds an interactive layer to the physical space. In this way, the project turns a static poster into a lively and engaging experience.
The project was also reposted by the graphic design account Slanted Publishers, which focuses on international design and cultural creation. Other projects dealing with Typography in Augmented Reality can be found here.
